The Krewe of African Queens was established in 2002.  They are a diverse group of 30 ladies.  There goal is to relax and celebrate.  They participate in the Mardi Gras season by having balls and by joining in the parades.  They also participate in the Fiesta of Five Flags Parade in June.  Nefertiti is their signature queen.  But each year they celebrate a new African queen and this year`s queen was Queen Makeda (Sheba).
